Energy Facility Siting Council to meet May 15 in Hermiston

SALEM — The next step in the review of a proposed natural gas-fired electric plant near Hermiston is scheduled for discussion at the Energy Facility Siting Council meeting on May 15. The meeting is open to the public and begins at 8 a.m. at the Oxford Suites, 1050 N. 1st St., in Hermiston.
The main items on the Council’s agenda include: • Perennial Wind Chaser Station (Umatilla County): The Council will receive a presentation and review the Draft Proposed Order submitted by Oregon Department of Energy staff for the proposed project. A public hearing on the Draft Proposed Order will be held Thursday, May 14, at 6 p.m., also at the Oxford Suites. • Summit Ridge Wind Farm (Wasco County): The Council will take action on an amendment request by the project’s developer that would extend the construction start and completion dates and make changes to the authorized number and size of turbines. • Rulemaking: The Council will consider staff’s recommendation to adopt rule amendments related to its balancing authority of the siting standards. The rulemaking was necessitated by a change in Oregon statute in 2013 through House Bill 2106.
