Energy Facility Siting Council to Meet June 27 in Boardman

SALEM — The Montague Wind Power Facility, currently under construction in Gilliam County, will be the focus of discussion at the Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council meeting June 27 in Boardman. The public meeting begins at 2 p.m. at the Port of Morrow Riverfront Center, 2 Marine Drive NE.

The Council will begin the meeting with routine business, then review the draft proposed order for Request for Amendment 4 to the Montague facility. Council will also review public comments and may provide direction to staff on the draft proposed order for consideration in the eventual proposed order. Request for Amendment 4 seeks Council approval of the following modifications:

·       expansion of the site boundary and micro-siting corridor

·       up to 81 wind turbines

·       solar photovoltaic generating system on up to 1,189 acres

·       a 100-megawatt battery storage system

·       related or supporting facility components

Following the Montague agenda item is a public comment period.

The Council will then hold its fifth and final public hearing on the draft proposed order for the proposed Boardman to Hemingway Transmission Line project. Oregon Department of Energy staff will give Council an overview of the project as it pertains to Morrow County at 4:30 p.m., followed by the public hearing at about 5 p.m.
