Grounded Podcast Episode 47: Energy Efficiency and Oregon’s Top 10 Ranking

Energy efficiency is found in government policies, it’s also found in our homes, technology and actions. From weatherizing your home, switching to LED lightbulbs, using a power strip and turning if off while not in use, or driving an electric vehicle, energy efficiency can decrease your monthly energy costs while also decreasing carbon emissions.

In March, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy ranked Oregon at No. 9 in its nationwide State Energy Efficiency Scorecard, which measures policy and program standards that support energy efficiency.

On this episode of grounded, we meet ODOE’s Andy Cameron, who manages the Energy Efficiency and Conservation team. He provides examples of energy efficiency, options to improve your own energy efficiency, and reflects on areas where Oregon is doing well and some where we need to improve.

We also hear from Mark Kresowik, the senior policy director for ACEEE. He provides more information about the organization’s state scorecard and how Oregon earned our No. 9 ranking.
